Welcome to First Pentecostal Church

First Pentecostal Church is a church on mission to glorify God, transform lives and impact the world by sharing and living out the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Church is not something we do – it is who we are. First Pentecostal Church is not an event, a business or even a building. We’re a community of people; some who feel a deep connection with God and some who don’t feel a connection at all yet; a community of individuals with messy lives, redeemed by the grace of God. We are a community who gathers on Sundays and through out the week to celebrate, pray, learn, and enjoy the conversation and friendship. Together we seek to explore what it means to be filled with the Holy Ghost and help others do the same. We are a people who believe that no matter what we’ve done or where we’ve been, God’s grace is available to us all.

We deeply value relationships. We love, serve, and care for one another and those whom God has placed around us in hopes that the community will see Jesus in us, hear us speak of Him often, and be drawn to Him. By welcoming you to our church, we are welcoming you into our lives.

We hope you will join us at a weekend or mid-week service. We would love to meet you or talk with you soon.

More About First Pentecostal Church

The Core Values of First Pentecostal Church describe the kind of people we want to be as we engage in our mission to glorify God, transform lives and impact the world through the gospel of Jesus Christ. These values serve as the foundation of our ministry and hopefully capture God’s thematic purposes found in Scripture.

  • Truth

  • First and foremost, First Pentecostal Church is about the Holy Ghost. We must focus our eyes on the one true God, as one who holds all things together (Col 1:17). Jesus is truth (Jn 14:6, Jn 16:13). He is revealed in the truth of Scripture (Jn 17:17) and we seek to glorify Him in truth (Ps 51:6).

  • Worship

  • We all worship something. Your time, energy, creativity, money, and resources go to something that you consider ultimate. The Cross frees us to focus our passions for the One, True, Ultimate: The gospel of Jesus Christ. We seek to be living sacrifices, offering our entire beings to God as an act of worship (Rom 12:1).

  • Authentic Community

  • Transformation happens in authentic, gritty, raw community (Pr 27:17). When we invite people to church, we aren’t just inviting them to a building, we’re inviting them into our lives. We meet in each others’ homes and celebrate life with good food, good laughs, and fellowship. A community of transformation has depth, which we achieve by building one another up in love and good deeds (Heb 10:24). We pray together, struggle together, and encounter life’s messes together. By sharing God’s grace, love, and truth with one another, the Gospel is spread and transformation occurs.

  • Making Disciples

  • For spiritual transformation to occur, we must continually sharpen one another (Prov. 27.17). We all need to be confronted with, challenged by, and trained in the Word. We need to remind one another how God calls us to love our spouses and our families (Eph 5:22-33, 6:4), lead our church (1 Tim 3), teach others (2 Tim 2:2), fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim 6:12), and build a counter-culture within our city (Rom 12:1-2).

  • Living Generously

  • We are called to transform our city (Jer 29:7), not by railing against it from the outside, but by loving it from the inside. We are commanded to care for orphans (and the poor), widows (and single moms), the homeless, the fatherless, and the oppressed (Jas 1:27) – as Jesus did (Luke 4:18-19).

About the Bible
The Bible is the infallible Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living. (See II Timothy 3:15-17.)

About God
There is one God, who has revealed Himself as our Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, and as the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh. He is both God and man. (See Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 2:9; I Timothy 3:16.)

About Sin and Salvation
Everyone has sinned and needs salvation. Salvation comes by grace through faith based on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (See Romans 3:23-25; 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9.)

About the Gospel
The saving gospel is the good news that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. We obey the gospel (II Thessalonians 1:8; I Peter 4:17) by repentance (death to sin), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (burial), and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (resurrection). (See I Corinthians 15:1-4; Acts 2:4, 37-39; Romans 6:3-4.)

About Christian Living
As Christians we are to love God and others. We should live a holy life inwardly and outwardly, and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, are for the church today. (See Mark 12:28-31; II Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; I Corinthians 12:8-10.)

About the Future
Jesus Christ is coming again to catch away His church. In the end will be the final resurrection and the final judgment. The righteous will inherit eternal life, and the unrighteous eternal death. (See I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-15.)

Our Sunday gatherings are an opportunity to celebrate what God is doing in our lives and world. We do this by worshiping through song, experiencing a message from our pastor Rev. Curt Green, each week. Gathered as one, we are reminded of our unique design by our Creator, the needs of our church family, and our calling to serve our community. No matter who you are or where you come from, everyone is welcome to join us.
